The Quality Health First® program

The Quality Health First® program is a service of the Indiana Health Information Exchange.  It's a secure chronic disease, preventive care and quality reporting service combining clinical, claims and point-of-care data.  Physicians receive monthly reports that provide information on how well they are managing patients.  This is done through targeted measures that the Indianapolis medical community has identified as priorities to help improve patient health and wellness.

IHIE is actively engaging the Indianapolis primary care physician community to join the Quality Health First program.  Visit the program website to learn more about the benefits and who qualifies for the program.  700 physicians so far have joined.  There is no cost to physicians.

Benefits of the program include:

1. Quality Health First program information can be used before, during or after patient visits to help physicians monitor patients with chronic diseases like diabetes, asthma and high cholesterol.

2. Monthly summaries allow physicians to track their patients who need preventive health tests and screenings.

3. The Quality Health First program can improve office workflow and efficiency to allow physicians more time with patients.

4. The Quality Health First program generates up-to-date patient care information so physicians can compare their individual results to the physician community as a whole.

To learn more or to sign up, contact IHIE at: 317.644.1752 , 877.435.7343 (toll free) or qhf@qualityhealthfirst.org

Participants

Currently, the program is targeted for primary care physicians in the Indianapolis area. Physicians from six major medical groups and independent physicians are participating, as are Anthem, other private health insurers and Medicare/Medicaid.

Better Quality Information for Medicare Beneficiaries Project

The Indiana Health Information Exchange was selected as one of six pilot communities for the Better Quality Information for Medicare Beneficiaries (BQI) Pilot Project . This special project led by the Delmarva Foundation tests methods to aggregate Medicare claims data with data from commercial health plans and, in some cases, Medicaid, in order to calculate and report quality measures.
