Indiana Health Information Exchange selected to participate on national HIMSS Healthcare Information Exchange Steering Committee
INDIANAPOLIS, Indiana (June 10, 2008) – John Kansky, Vice President Business Development of the Indiana Health Information Exchange (IHIE), has been selected as a member of the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) Health Information Exchange (HIE) Steering Committee. The two year appointment will begin July 1, 2008.
The HIE Steering Committee provides perspective in the effort to help support patient care and reduce healthcare costs through interoperability, standards utilization, harmonization and technology. Specifically, the committee will serve in a resource capacity to HIMSS leadership, monitor the HIE and regional health information organization (RHIO) landscape, provide foundational technology expertise and provide input into and support for HIMSS strategic direction in the content area of HIEs and RHIOs.
"It is an honor to be selected to this committee," said Kansky. "As the interest in health information exchange and the demand for health information technology grows, it is important that this steering committee ensures that the perspectives of all these stakeholders are clearly understood and appropriately aligned with HIMSS‐related activities."
Kansky has worked in the healthcare technology field for 20 years with experience in healthcare information technology, biomedical technology, and IT strategic planning. He has served organizations in the role of chief information officer, director of information systems, and director of clinical engineering and has spoken nationally on topics such as healthcare information technology, health information exchange and HIPAA compliance. In addition to his role on the HIE Steering Committee, he currently serves on the board of the Indiana Chapter of HIMSS.
HIMSS is the healthcare industry's membership organization exclusively focused on providing leadership for the optimal use of healthcare information technology and management systems for the betterment of healthcare.
