About IHIE

The Indiana Health Information Exchange is a non-profit organization formed by the Regenstrief Institute, private hospitals, local and state health departments, BioCrossroads and other healthcare and community organizations in Indiana. It operates the nation’s largest health information exchange, providing a secure and robust statewide health information technology network that connects over 90 hospitals, long-term care facilities, rehabilitation centers, community health clinics and other healthcare providers in Indiana. This network serves more than ten million patients and over 19,000 physicians throughout the country.

IHIE provides information in a secure, standardized and electronic format, enabling information to follow the patient, rather than being housed in one physician office or a single hospital system. As Indiana’s health information ‘super highway’, IHIE helps securely move health data to improve care coordination. Our biggest commitment is to make sure patient information is private and secure.

The organization also assembles this health data in a meaningful way for providers to help them achieve improved health outcomes for their patients, with a specific focus on cancer screenings, diabetes care, heart health, asthma care, well-child visits and other care interventions.
